About Javier Alvarado

An energy industry professional with a career that spanned 34 years before his retirement, Javier Alvarado holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a specialized degree in energy management from Simon Bolivar University in Venezuela. An experienced senior administrator, he has completed the Managing Technology and Innovation Program and a course on human resources at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the PDVSA Business Leaders Program at Harvard Business School. From 2012 until his retirement, Javier Alvarado served as the president of the Caracas-based research and development firm Intevep.

Javier Alvarado’s responsibilities with Intevep revolved around securing a number of goods and services for a range of development projects in the oil and natural gas industries. His areas of specialization encompass all facets of the extraction and processing of natural resources. A dedicated educator and mentor, he stresses the importance of education in conjunction with important business skills such as communication, leadership, and ethical conduct.
